Equality Fest

The beginning of this month the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) group got to do something really unique and cool. They were able to attend the local Equality Fest that promoted equality of all kinds. I was so proud that the teens from GSA wanted to take part in this and that they showed up to help out and make a stand for equality! Read on for more information and pictures!

We made some fantastic connections that day with other organizations that promote equality (such as the amazing PA Youth Congress , Planned Parenthood, and PFLAG.) and the teens went to different booths in the area and introduced themselves, explained what group they were with, and passed out the zine they had made for Equality Fest (which was rainbow!) This was a really great thing for the teens to be part of and a wonderful way to serve the community and make those connections. I strongly encourage libraries to look at making unique connections like this and doing different outreach that can bridge multiple gaps. Plus it can be super fun! :)

Please email me for more information on how to get involved and to discuss outreach ideas! dstates@yorklibraries.org

Dawn states: I wore rainbow eye shadow! It was fun!
