Art Club: Glass Beads!

Some wonderful artists, Linda and Meredith, joined us for an amazing Art Club making glass beads! These artists brought their array of supplies, time, and their impressive talent with them to this Art Club and everyone who attended was completely mesmerized as the artists worked. The artists shared stories, talked about the history of glass, and gave very informed comments on the process of making glass beads. It was truly an awesome thing to watch, and I am so glad Meredith and Linda took time to come do this Art Club!
Think of how you could apply this to your library! What artists are in your area that have unique skills that they may be able to share with the teens? Pottery? Glass making? Weaving? There are so many wonderful artistic mediums to explore and share with teens that it is worth looking into and gaining this experience for them. A library offers the advantage of being able to show these things to teens who would otherwise maybe never be exposed to fine arts. It could spark an interest in a teen and lead to their own pursuit of art. Be creative and be the platform!
