What Social
Media teens use:
Hey everyone! I am figuring out what sort of social media teens use and this is what I got from TAB. (Teen Advisory Board) Read on to see what they said! (It is really funny!)
Facebook: Lower
usage from the teen population. They use it, but it is not their favorite means
of communication, and it is used infrequently or only to contact family
members.
Twitter: Also not
used as frequently as expected. Many of their peers have a twitter though.
Instagram: Mid-range
usage from the teen population.
Tumblr: Again,
mid-range usage from the teen population. Mixed reviews on using Tumblr.
Blogs: A few have
this, but with high school workloads, they do not update as frequently.
Overall highest usage from the teens surveyed:
Snapchat: They
love it! And they are overwhelmingly had an account!
Pinterest: They
also love using this and finding lots of ideas! They said “Pinterest is not
just for moms!”
Up and coming:
VSCO: Keep an eye
out for teens using and talking about this. It is better in their minds than
Tumblr, but the same idea as Tumblr. It is more artistic and artist driven
though.
Also used: Skype and Texting
Bottom line: Find out
what your teens use and if you are trying to connect with teens use that! My
teens like making zines, and say “Facebook is for grandpas.”
Dawn states: I am not a grandpa, because I do not have facebook.
